Story

Tucked in the mountains of the south of Tolima, you’ll arrive to the scenic municipality of Bilbao. It’s here where Hermes Laguna has his farm Finlandia at 1,850 meters above sea level. His love and knowledge of coffee has been passed to him through generations. Some of his first memories are in the coffee trees with his father from whom he learned it all. Hermes started his own journey in coffee 30 years ago with this wife. Now a days it has become a family enterprise with their three sons. Each one of them carries on a specific task in the farm, for example, Luz Mery -his wife- takes care of the administration while one of the kids takes care of processes. For Hermes, the jump to specialty coffee six years ago represented a change of mindset, but it brought a better income, hence better quality of life. For him it has been a joy remembering the time when he saw his kids running as little children through the farm and now his grandsons; coffee has brought a lot of joy into his life. Also, since being in
specialty coffee him and his family have started implementing an integral farm management focused in procuring a good quality soil and environmentally friendly practices. As per the future plans for Hermes and his family, are to improve the drying stations to be able to process all the coffee being produced and keeping up the quality of the coffee.
